What is the programme?
Groovy Little Movers recognises that the 3 prime areas of Physical Development, Communication and Language and Personal, Social and Emotional Development are closely intertwined and lay the foundation for learning and development in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Our programme includes many of the 4 specific areas of Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. These links can be seen on our song list curriculum document on the button below.
Our medium term plans show our Intent and Implementation in each prime area, for each half term, sequentially progressing term by term to fulfil the early learning goals. Our programme has been created to support the Speech and Language Toolkit, WellComm and follows the guidance in Development Matters. It promotes British values and incorporates the use of Makaton signs.

Happy children are better learners!
How does it work?
Each half term you will have access to training videos, original music and songs with their curriculum links, weekly lesson plans and our top tips toolkit.
Looking at the half term plans, our Groovy Little Movers' consultant will support you to embed our programme into your setting. We will consider your context and cohort of children, looking at children with SEND and EAL and children's PSED needs and next steps.
We recommend investing in our Continuing Professional Development Training and Parent Workshops.
What will be the impact?
Let's ask the staff to tell us....
Children love their weekly Groovy Little Movers sessions, where they learn to follow instructions, sing songs and move to music. These activities make a strong contribution to the children’s physical development and enhance their self confidence and engagement.
OFSTED / July 2024
This programme is especially impactful for our EAL pupils. Their limited language is hugely developed by the cleverly written songs which reinforce the meaning and context of vocabulary through the movement and actions. Their participation is wonderful to see and they clearly love being part of a group experience.
Tina / Teaching Assistant
This is a fantastic programme to improve children’s listening skills and their ability to follow instructions, attend and focus. It is highly adaptable for children with additional needs and they make significant progress in personal, social and emotional development.
Jess / Pre-school Special Education Assistant
